Google Maps Returning To iPhone 5 – Finally

by on November 17, 2012

Apple Maps just didn’t work well enough for everybody. The app, which came preinstalled on the iPhone 5 got poor reviews as users pointed out its  many inaccuracies.

Google is preparing to release Google Maps for the Apple devices.

A Google spokesman told the Wall Street Journal, “We believe Google Maps are the most comprehensive, accurate and easy-to-use maps in the world. Our goal is to make Google Maps available to everyone who wants to use it, regardless of device, browser, or operating system.”

A native Google Maps App for iPhone improves the functionality of the new iPhone 5 and iOS 6, and removes an important advantage from Android. Android already exceeded Apple  in Q3 shipments, and iOS maps were particularly weak overseas. Apple did not need to give the international market other reasons to favor phones from HTC or Samsung.

Tell us what you think about Google Maps returning to iPhone 5? Do you prefer Apple’s Maps or Google Maps.
