Make sure you stay down because you will be surprised. The video begins with the creator moving toward a desk full of objects sitting on the tablet. As he gets closer to the table, the objects begin to come into focus. Sitting on top of a few pices of paper are a Rubix cube, a spindle of tape and shoe.
The camera pulls away to reveal the Rubix cub sitting alone on the desk set atop a piece of paper. While the camera zooms in to show the amazing detail of the Rubix cube, it is rotated to reveal that it’s 2D, and it’s simply been printed on a piece of paper. Something tells us printer companies might be interested in using this concept to promote their photo printers. It’d make for some pretty interesting commercials.
The anamorphosis illusion is a distorted projection or perspective requiring the viewer to use special devices or occupy a specific vantage point to reconstitute the image.
If you want to try, the creator included the images in this video for you to download and try yourself. Print them on 8.5 X 14. Cut the paper any way you’d like to add more of an effect.
Make sure that the focal point of the lens is pointed at the focal point of the image. This may take several tries, but eventually, you should be able to line them up well enough to recreate the illusion. Good luck!
