Any trip to London’s theatreland is an exciting, magical experience as audience members watch some of the world’s best show’s in any of London’s historic theatres. Christmas time in London’s West End only increases the enjoyment of the audience as family entertainment takes over most theatre’s for the majorioty of the Holiday season. Stars from television, stage and film take to the London stage each year to provide some of the best family entertainment on any stage in the world.

Returning to the London stage after a successful television series on British network ITV the puppet legend Sooty stars in a spectacular show at the Duchess Theatre. Alongside his friends Sweep and Sue, Sooty will be taking a trip to Mars in his own turbo rocket in a 3-D show that will delight all the family; each member of the audience receives a free pair of Sooty’s special 3-D space goggles to watch the show and take home as a souvenier. Included in the show are Sooty’s own robot, an appearance of a group of flying cups and saucers, and of course a group of martians from the red planet of Mars.

One of the traditions of the London stage during the festive period is the many appearances of Ebeneezer Scrooge in various productions around the West End; A Christams Carol has been one of the stapples of the Christmas period since Charles Dickens wrote the story and began performing his own readings of the Christmas classic. Based on Dickens own readings of A Christmas Carol, British stage legend Simon Callow returns to the role of the author as his one man show A Christmas Carol returns to the Arts Theatre. A much larger, spectacular version of the story of Scroogs takes place at the legendary London Palladium in the form of the musical Scroogs. Hollywood and stage legend Tommy Steele returns to the role of Ebeneezer Scrooge in the all singing and dancing version of one of Britain’s literary festive classics.

At the Peacock Theatre the 12th year of Raymond Briggs Christmas classic The Snowman returns for what is sure to be another successful run. Telling the story of James and the Snowman he builds that comes to life and takes him on a series of adventures, The Snowman is one of Theatreland’s best loved Christmas traditions.
