Nike and the advertisement agency, Wieden + Kennedy, produced similar commercials during NBA competitions. The Nike ad was directed by Biscuit Filmworks director Tim Godsall.

The company’s ad was uploaded on YouTube on December 19th and has been viewed by more than 610,000 times.

From YouTube video:

“You can’t take hockey away. Not from Canada. Steven Stamkos, P.K. Subban, Tessa Bonhomme and Mark Scheifele know this is our calling. #HockeyIsOurs.”

The Nike ad features the “Hockey is ours” theme and you can see tough talk—kids looking straight at the camera, asking, “Take away my skates?”, “What are you gonna do?”, “Take away my puck?”, which seems a fit attitude for hockey.

A nice brief introduction is made by Alex Ovechkin, currently playing in Moscow because of the lockout, which proves the theory that the commercial performances improve in inverse proportion to the screen time. The Nike ad also featured some of Canada’s best kockey players like P.K. Subban and Steven Stamkos. They can just use hamburger patties as pucks or frozen ponds for ice, if they have to.
