According to the China Times, which has sources from Apple‘s supply chain, it seems that the tech company will release an iPhone with a 4.8-inch screen, accompanied by an 8-megapixel camera, something between a smartphone and a tablet, apparently named “iPhone Math”. It will be launched at the Apple’s June 2013 Worldwide Developer’s Conference.

The current iPhone 5 offers 1136×640 pixel resolution with 326 ppi and the iPhone 4S has 960×640 pixel resolution with 326 ppi, so we will see a big upgrade on the next iPhone, too.

Besides the weird name, the important story is that Apple will move away from its traditional model of unveiling one high-end smartphone each year and release three new iPhones in this year in order to appeal to a larger user base. For example, Apple’s mobil rival, Samsung, has a smartphone in every size and color, which helped it become the biggest mobile phone maker in the world.

“We believe a lower-cost 4.3in iPhone and multicolour 4in iPhone 5S will launch in June/July,” a note reads. “Additionally, we believe a 4.8in iPhone model is scheduled for the end of October. We do not know what this phone will be called and think ‘Math’ might be a mistranslation or a code name.”

Apple is also rumored to be release a cheaper iPhone, despite claims a cheap unit of its flagship device will never come into fruition. This new idea is expected to generate upwards of $6.5 billion in revenue.
