The i.AM GPS tracking system is an Open Source software and hardware combination, which remotely tracks different things from cars and bicycles to pets and people.

This i.AM (which stands for Intelligent Asset Management) GPS tracking system developed by WRD Systems includes plans for an open source tracking device, a desktop application and also mobile applications to aggregate and organize all the tracking data. Once you place the GPS tracker, it can be used on any supported platform to track your beloved things, no matter how big or small they are.

All major operating systems are supported from Windows, MacOS, Linux and to Free BSD and Android OS.

Google Maps’ StreetView is also integrated into its software to allow locating your object if the street view is available in that area, which is a very cool feature that will help you track your devices easily by giving you a point of view.

Other features include:

-add assets and categories;

-configuring the password and phone number;

-long battery life: 2 weeks continuously, in passive and up to one year, in power down mode;

-GSM networks compatibility;

-creating geofences and the option to alert you when the tracked object goes outside that geofence;

-the device can use Clickatell service or GSM modem to send commands to the GPS tracker.

Although there are many GPS trackers available on the market, i.AM Remote GPS Tracker is worth to be tried.

The company is looking for crowdfunding on Kickstarter. It you want to support the project go here.
