The new Volkswagen XL1 concept might be the hybrid car of the future that we all want to drive. Is almost looks like a race car, but it is a green one due to the plug-in hybrid system, with a fuel consumption of less than one galon for every 261 miles and 21g/km CO2. Also the Volkswagen can travel 50 km (32 miles) only based on its battery power (this represents a complete ecological trip with zero fuel emission).

The XL1 offers two seat,  two cylinders turbo-diesel engine with 47 horsepower, electric engine with 27 horsepower, air-con and navigation and you can relax, while the hybrid car is cruising at 100 mph.

It can reach a maximum speed of 88 mph and gets to 62 mph in 12.7 seconds. The car manufacturer will produce 1,000 models. if you are thinking about buying one, Volkswagen did not confirm any price of the hybrid car (TopGear estimates the value at over £50,000), but keeping in mind the limited number of produced models, we cannot imagine a low cost.

With a weight of approximately 1,752 lbs. (that means half of an average U.S. sedan) and high aerodynamics features, Volkswagen XL1 is a fuel-efficient, futuristic, amazing looking hybrid car.

If you want more technical details you must know that the XL1 features  lightweight dampers and suspension, magnesium wheels, carbon fibre one-piece seats, carbon brakes, compressed chopped wood fibres.

This hybrid car will be presented by Volkswagen at the Geneva Motor Show within this year, the next months.
