Robots Could Be The Teachers of the Future
The learning experience is becoming more interactive and fun day by day, with the new technologies, iPads, touch screens and now, robots, which eventually will become the teachers of the future.
A startup called RobotsLab has released a product named RobotsLab Box, which can be used in classrooms. The box contains four robots and a series of 50 lessons preloaded on a tablet, all tested by an expert teacher in different classrooms before this release.
The robots Parrot AR.Drone (a quadcopter), Armbot (a robotic arm), Sphero (a robotic ball) and Mobot (a two-wheeled modular robot) demonstrate core concepts in algebra, trigonometry, physics, geometry and calculus based on a STEM curriculum, plus instructions and quizzes. The tablet could also be used a as remote to control the 4 robots.
If you love this concept, the price of a standard version of the RobotsLab Box will be $3,500. But there’s also available a deluxe version, which has more lessons and an extended warranty for the price of $3,999.
If you cannot afford the full price, you could buy them separately at retail prices. The cost if the AR Drone would be around $250-$300, $130 for Sphero, and the Mobot might cost $350. Regarding the Armbot, the retails price sets it at $450.
