Bloomberg and Jack Dorsey

Jack Dorsey, one of the co-founders of the popular social network Twitter and Square, the mobile payments company, announced during an interview with Lara Logan at CBS’s 60 Minutes, that he is thinking about moving to New York City and running for the mayor position someday. He currently lives in San Francisco and he is originally from Illinois.

During the 60 Minutes interview, Jack Dorsey and CBS’s Lara Logan walked around the NYC’s popular subway station, Times Square and talked about the city and said that he loves the electricity he feel right away in NYC.

Mr. Dorsey did express the desire of becoming the mayor of NYC before, in 2011. He told the Vanity Fair magazine’s David Kirkpatrick and actually asked for an advice from Bloomberg, who responded: Make a lot of money first.

According to Betabeat.com, he is considered by many people the intellectual successor to Steve Jobs.

Square is just a startup in this moment, but Jack Dorsey seems to already found his next job: the city of New York. Maybe his skills as a tech founder will be useful for the streets of NYC. Lara Logan found this political position unlikely for a “man who spends a lot of time thinking and dreaming and calls himself a loner.”

Do you think Jack Dorsey is the right person to become the mayor of New York City? If you are a New  let us know if you will vote for him, in case he will run for the mayor position.
