After over a year of shooting, Spring Breakers is finally getting released to the masses this Friday. The film stars Disney alums Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez, ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine (whose husband directed and wrote the film) and most notably, James Franco.

While this movie seemed to initially be a typical beach flick about four spoiled girls; Faith (Selena Gomez), Candy (Vanesa Hudgens), Brit (Ashley Benson), and Cotty (Rachel Korine) going off to Florida for a Spring Break full of intoxication and missing memories it doesn’t seem like that’s what this entire movie is about.

Spring Breakers does center on a trip to Florida, but with one big twist: the girls don’t have enough money to cover the cost of their desired vacation. Naturally, they do the only logically thing they can think of and rob a convenience store… which they somehow accomplish successfully.

With enough stolen money to get them to the student and liquor filled beaches, the Spring Breakers enjoy party paradise until they are arrested for drug possession by local authorities. When it finally seems like the joy ride for the Spring Breakers is finally over… they are bailed out of jail by gangster rapper, Alien (James Franco) who soon immerses them into a world of crime that makes their little convenience store heist look like a joke.

Spring Breakers is a departure from all of the actor’s previous roles especially since you have former child stars running around with drugs and bikinis and James Franco donning a fake grill, cornrows, and a very erratic accent. The trailers that have been released do a good job of sparking curiosity and leave you wanting to see more, but whether or not you decide to put on some self tanner and go see it on Friday is totally up to you.
