Anna Kendrick is making a music video and recording a radio single… despite the fact that the movie where the song comes from was released last year and has been out on DVD for a while.

Some of you may be shaking your head in confusion, but if you dig way back into the depths of your movie memory you might remember a movie called Pitch PerfectPitch Perfect was about battling college a cappella groups, The Barden Bellas and The Treblemakers as they tried to make it to the national a cappella competition at the Lincoln Center in New York City. Kendrick starred as Beca, rebel turned a cappella singer in addition to Skylar Astin (recently starred in 21 and Over) and, Rebel Wilson (the hilarious roommate from Bridesmaids).

Towards the beginning of Pitch Perfect, Beca (Kendrick) has to try out for a spot on The Barden Bellas and she sings a cover of the song ‘Cups’ by a LuLu and Lampshades using only a cup and her hands as background music.

A little over a week ago on March 16th there was an open casting call that was seeking people who could play the ‘Cups’ song all the way through on cups without messing up and could also do it in a group. This excerpt and a photo of Kendrick on the set on the video in an apron are the only hints the public has as to what the finished product will look like.

So far there has been no set premiere date for the music video or the radio release, but I’m sure Pitch Perfect fans will be waiting with baited breath. In the mean time while your waiting, you can check out the shorter performance by Kendrick in Pitch Perfect by renting the DVD from your local Red Box… since Magic Mike is probably still unavailable.
