Music Band Hijacks Google’s Street View Car For Videoclip

by on March 30, 2013

Google Street View car hijacked

This must be a first: a trending video seems to show how a group of people is “hijacking” a Google‘s Street View car to make their own Street View style music video. This is either the stupidest thing ever or a brilliant marketing stunt. Either way it is worth watching it for almost four minutes of fun.

The large group is represented by a country music band, Gunnar & the Grizzly Boys, and they are riding three pickup trucks in Michigan, on a snowy road. The promoted song is called “Could Be Me”.

The “hijacking” is clearly not made with the complicity of Google because the company is using an automatic face blurring system. So the other possible options are represented by a clever hoax created to promote their new song or a not so brilliant idea to hijack a Street View car.

According to the band members they are not disclosing where and when this video was filmed or who made it possible “to protect our friends at Google who bent the rules”.

Some of the over 200,000 viewers are saying that it is not real: the video has been edited, the car is not a Google Street View vehicle, it is all just a stunt.
