Both smartphones, Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx, are now updated and ready to run Android 4.1.2, also known as Jelly Bean, which offers updated animations and icons and new colors. This change was expected and necessary since the new version provides many new or improved features like Voice search, Google Now, improved camera capabilities, keyboard and also Expanded Notifications.
This upgrade comes with a few loses, too. You will not find anymore on your Motorola: the social location, Moto-print and -activ, My Gallery, My Moto-cast, My Music. Some of them have been replaced by a Google Clock app.
There will be no 3G/4G connectivity issues, Outlook Sync, Quick Office, global roaming, contacts, music playlists and audio issues or Google Maps app problems. Other upgrades were made regarding the Wi-Fi Hotspot (it can now support mobile hotspot) and Chrome Browser (now has multi-tabbed surfing).
If you have a Motorola Droid RAZR or RAZR Maxx pay attention because the update will be available starting today and you will receive a notification. If you do not want to wait you can download the files and install Android Jelly Bean manually, but this is risky and we do not recommend it. If you want to do it keep in mind that you cannot go back to Android 4.0.4 also known as Ice Cream Sandwich if you install the new version. Also it is recommended to do this installation when your Motorola’s battery life is at least 50%.
