The Shanghai Motor Show 2013: A Quick Look
When it comes to cars, China is accelerating fast. The Shanghai Motor Show 2013 had many interesting models of car manufacturers from Bugatti to Buick. Here are a few notable and interesting cars that made an appearance:
The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse is a record-breaking edition, reaching speeds up to 254 mph. Only eight of these cars will be produced and the expected cost will be around $2,250,000.
The Aston Martin Rapide S has a new lookwith a full-face aluminum grill. Even though it has four doors, the Rapide S is nothing short of a true sports car. It has the most powerful Rapide engine, and it is spacious enough for four adults.
The world debut of the BMW X4 Concept was also at the Shanghai Motor Show. The SUV has a sportier look, blending the looks of a BMW Coupe and an SUV. The price will most likely be somewhere between the X3 and X5, with a price of at least $45,000 to $60,000. Unfortunately, the interior of the BMW X4 was not revealed, so consumers will have to wait and see.
The MG3 was also unveiled. The hatchback is big enough for 4 people but small enough to maneuver through small areas. The supermini is based on the MG Zero, but it has a sportier look and feel that will appear to a younger generation. Prices for the MG3 will be released toward this autumn.
The last Buick Riviera was showcased in 1999, making the reveal of the 2013 Buick Riviera long overdue at the Shanghai Motor Show. Its sleek silhouette and futuristic style compliments the design features of hybrid plug-in technology, 4G and high-resolution cameras. Drivers will line up for this futuristic “silver bullet”.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA features laser-beam projected headlights. Not only do the headlights help the driver see in the dark, but they can also project pictures and videos onto a surface outside the car. The GLA also has two HD cameras that can be sources for the headlight projectors, but a smartphone or the Internet can be used as sources, as well.
What was your favorite car to see: the Aston Martin Vanquish, the Lamborghini Aventador or something even more extravagant such as the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record Edition?
